Who we are. . . .

Who we are. . . .

The Garden Alliance is a 508(c)(1)(a) non-profit organization focused on making our communities better.  We are a group of local professionals who are helping people help themselves and we offer a full spectrum advocacy which is an integration of strategies, methods and actions to achieve social, political and economic justice for individuals, communities and organizations.

The Needs are Great

A 2013 report prepared by United Way indicated that 33% of Snohomish County Residents are either living below the federal poverty level but below the basic cost of living.   These are known as ALICE households (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, and Employment) and these individuals live paycheck to paycheck and struggle further when emergencies arise.  An illness or vehicle repair can result in financial devastation and tough decisions need to be made to forego necessities such as food to pay for an immediate need.

While this segment of our population is large, we also have a middle class that is struggling and shrinking as well.  The financial crisis has left many on the brink of disaster.  We have families struggling to feed themselves; people who have been disenfranchised by our government and legal systems.    Our legal systems are more than ever out of reach for most people due to the costs and the complexity of our courts.

All around us, you see individuals and families struggling to survive and “fighting” to live the American dream, but the local needs far exceed government, faith-based and other resources, and many fall through the cracks because there is no comprehensive network of help or advocacy resources yet that exists anywhere.  Until now.

We are building a network of affiliate organizations and ask you to join us in making our communities better.
